Freeze drying is the perfect way to preserve varieties of apples that aren’t available year round. Apples that have been freeze dried are more versatile than many think–they can be used in a variety of recipes including sauces, chutneys, trail and party mixes, oatmeal, cereals, cookies, cakes and bread puddings.
Freeze Dried Mushrooms are produced in a process where moisture is removed from the product using a very low temperature and a vacuum. Only about 3 percent moisture remains in the product at the time of packaging. The end product weight is reduced by over 90 percent, while the volume stays the same.
